I wouldn’t be so presumptuous to assume that I was the entire cause for this company’s success. They are a quality company to begin with, and they really care about taking care of their customers. That is the secret to their success.

But I will say this. I have been working with them for about three months on their social media, and in June 2012, they had their most successful month ever in their history, and they have been around since 1947.

I’ve said it before that “social media and web sites are not the answer to all of a company’s Marketing needs, but they certainly play a part in the overall Marketing picture of a successful company.”

So what was their secret to their success? It certainly was not just posting product content on their social media sites. It also was not just posting “special offers” on their social media. Did we do those things? Yes, we did. But what was really big for this particular company is that they gave back to their community, and they also received awards for what they do every day.

You see, the question that every customer (and your suppliers) is continually asking themself and reevaluating is “why do I want to do business with the ABC company?” Are they just another company that is trying to make a buck, or are they a part of something that is part of a bigger picture?  Are they really looking out for and trying to help me (the customer)?

When you are evaluating your social media, take a minute to promote yourself a bit and let your customers (and suppliers) know that you are not just another run-of-the-mill company.

Ask yourself these questions:

1. How does my company make a positive difference in our community, and in the lives of my employees?

2. Have we done a good job, and have my customers (and suppliers) noticed, and perhaps recognized us for our efforts?

3. How can I make the lives of my customers easier (or simplier) with the products and services that I offer?  Are we their advocate?

4.  Are we easy to do business with?

5.  Is my social media helping my customers, or is it just another opportunity to sell something?

6.  Is my social media offering different in function from my web site?

These are just a few questions to begin with.  Give us a call if you want help with your social media or your other Marketing.
