I want to make a Marketing recommendation to you.  If you are only telling the wonders of your company to your clients, then they are only getting half of the story…or less.

I know this for a fact because I have done Marketing for contractors over the years.  In the markets where I worked, some bad contractors that received bad press from the media made it rough for all contractors.  That is a big hurdle to overcome.  In that market segment, reputation means everything.  As a result, you first had to convince the  potential clients that you were not one of the “bad” contractors before they would even give you an opportunity to bid.  You had to earn their trust.  Once you earned their trust, then you had to keep their trust by meeting, or hopefully exceeding their expectations.  Once you did that, you likely had them as a client for life.

Old school Marketing dictated that YOU told your potential clients how great YOU are.  The problem with that is that it is a jaded perspective.  Many potential clients will receive that information in somewhat of a skeptical manner.  Your potential clients still need to hear that information, but a much better way to receive it is from another business or client that is happy with your products and services.

Here is my plug.  Any time you can show pictures or videos of your great products, services of your happy clients, jump all over that opportunity.  It gives you more credibility.  It is always more believable if it comes from a 3rd party.  Still photos are great, but video which demonstrates a process fully or gives life to the words of your clients are exceptional.

My only caution is this.  If you are going to do it, do it right.  Spring for photographs that are of good quality.  Yes, you can take video with your phone, but how well does that really represent your business?  If a professional takes 2 hours of video, they might well spend 10 more hours editing the video, adding titles, graphics, cutting/pasting video, etc.  The same is true for still photographs.  Consistency in color adjustments, brightness, etc is very important for your image.  Use professional materials.

One more thing.  The beauty of creating quality graphics, photography and video is that once they are created, you can use them across all print, web site and social media, and you should absolutely capitalize on that aspect.  They can be reused and modified as necessary.

We at AKOR Services would be honored to help you with all your video, still photography and graphics needs.  Call us for details.
