If you have followed me for any length of time, you know I am a proponent of rail travel. It’s not that I am afraid of flying. I’m not. It’s just that if you can afford the time to travel by rail, it’s a wonderful way to travel, I have written several articles about it. The most recent is “Rail Trip This Summer”, touting the ease with which you can visit many of the most loved national parks while leaving your car (or RV) at home and simply relax and enjoy the trip. But for those that already know the benefits of traveling by rail know that when time allows for it, traveling by rail is a preferred method of travel.
I developed this page specifically to entice you all to consider slowing down the pace a bit and asking you to consider all the wonders that train travel offers. When reading below, you will see a number of wonderful train itineraries. many of which 9 days or more. Trips of 1-5 days are possible as well. What you need to know is that you don’t have to take the entire trip or itinerary. I can begin your trip at your closest local depot, or from any other point. I will build your trip for you based on all the options you want or need. I’ll build it with any excursions you want, book you in the hotels (3-5 star) that you want, and where available, I’ll get you the class of service that you want from coach, business, roomette to full bedroom. And remember that the bedrooms include full meals during the trip. If you are going to a national park, because you are going by train, I may be able to get you accommodations that you wouldn’t be able to obtain on your own.
Look at the maps. You can see that the USA and parts of Canada are well-covered by train. What you don’t see is that I can also get you booked throughout large parts of the rest of the world as well.
