Rail + Travel Packages
You fill in the blank! I am pretty fond of taking the train and going on short overnight trips. I just recently did one between Vancouver, WA and Seattle, WA. See my review. I will say that 2-4 hour trips on Amtrak can be quite pleasant, as long as you are willing to catch an Uber when you get to your destination. I live in the Pacific Northwest where traffic is not so pleasant a lot of the time in the major cities. I find riding the train much more enjoyable than the stress of driving or flying.
So have you ever considered a quick (or extended) trip to a destination of your choice by rail?
I can put the entire package together for you, including accommodations, or even a cruise (e.g. going to Seattle), and then back home again.
Interested? Contact me. I’ll do the homework for you for the trip you have in mind. Remember, there is no charges for my service for complete trips.
Ideas:
- Simple train trip from one city to another. Spend the night(s) in the hotel of your choice. Do the things you enjoy.
- If you are in the Eugene/Portland Oregon or Vancouver Washington areas, you could ride the train to Seattle, and catch a Ferry Boat cruise to Victoria, BC. Optionally, you could ride the train all the way to Vancouver, BC. This is the Amtrak Cascades line.
- Take a train to a major sporting event, spend the night, or come home the same night (if the train schedule allows). (e.g. Seattle football or baseball)
- Take a train to a concert event, spend the night, or come home the same night (if the train schedule allows). (e.g. Tacoma Dome)
- Where I live, I could take the train to Eugene and see college football or basketball games, and get back home the same day. (e.g. Oregon Ducks)
- Many people prefer to travel by train for business. They can get a lot done while traveling.
- Take a weekend shopping, or food/wine trip by train!
- If you live in a place where the train goes to a city by the coast, how about a day trip to the beach?
- Take a train to where you can catch your river cruise. (We do those too).
You get the idea. Now picture doing all of this with either 1 other person, or perhaps an entire family!
Don’t forget. No TSA checks when you go by train, which means you don’t need to show up 2 hours early! Also, Amtrak offers Reward Miles programs too.
Just one more thing. I see a lot of retirees traveling by train. They can’t all be wrong!
Slow down and enjoy a trip by rail. You might just be amazed at how much more relaxed you are when you get to your destination.
